Who I am

Hi, I’m Marie-Liesse.

The work

I’m a product designer. What I like most about this job is going to watch people use what we’ve made: working out where it snags, and turning that into something simpler.

At Edenred

I’ve spent the past six years at Edenred. The first three at Edenred France, as a UX/UI designer across four platforms. Then I moved to head office for a fifth product: the merchant portal, rolled out internationally. I’ve been its only designer for three years, from the first interview all the way to launch. After six years I know where the rules of Edenred’s products come from and who asked for them.

Before that

I trained at Gobelins, in interactive design and then a master’s in design and management of interactive innovation. I spent the last two years of it on a work-study contract at Edenred, which is why my first school projects and my first years on a product overlap. Around me

Around me there are POs, developers, a research team, and the designers working on the other products, in cross-team workshops and in passing. My decisions are made in those conversations.

Blind spots

What I like best are the moments people tend to overlook: the error screen, the person who comes back after six months having forgotten everything, the odd case nobody planned for. Those screens decide whether someone carries on or calls support. I like being the one who takes care of them. You can see a small example on this page.

A little code

I designed and built this site myself, with no framework and with a coding assistant. It changes the way I work with developers: I know what I’m asking them for, I can see when an idea is going to cost them, and the prototypes you can click in my case studies are real code rather than a picture dropped in.

No figures

You won’t find any Edenred figures on this site: that data isn’t mine. I show the decisions, the screens and what the tests taught us.

Outside work

And otherwise, I’ve painted in oils and watercolour for a long time. I really enjoy going to exhibitions, and doing creative workshops, for the pleasure of making things by hand.
